{"id":4131,"date":"2023-02-13T09:50:58","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T07:50:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oliviapodobea.com\/?p=4131"},"modified":"2023-02-13T09:50:58","modified_gmt":"2023-02-13T07:50:58","slug":"regula-lui-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oliviapodobea.com\/en\/regula-lui-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Rule of 7"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In the many trainings and coaching sessions I conduct, I meet a lot of managers who are so absorbed in the work they are doing and because of their experience are so convinced that they know step by step the work they are doing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>However, the moment a problem arises, everything grinds to a halt. I've been sitting and thinking about why this happens and how I can support them so that the problem can be solved faster.<\/p>\n<p>The first option I propose is\u00a0<strong><em>discuss the situation with your team<\/em><\/strong>, even if they don't know exactly what you as a manager are doing. Try to explain the problem in a way that everyone understands and\u00a0<em><strong>listen to their solutions.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I know, it will be a challenge, firstly because you have to explain the situation in a different way and secondly because it can be seen as a moment of weakness towards your team. But in the end, you'll see that the blockage won't last so long, because you'll get a lot of ideas from people who are not directly involved in the impasse and can see the situation from the outside.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Have the courage to do this exercise<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and you will see that the team will come together even better, because everyone will feel useful in another\u00a0<em>role<\/em>\u00a0than they do on a daily basis, and they will have a much better understanding of what you go through as a manager.<\/p>\n<p>Another option that I apply both in my entrepreneurial work and in my daily life\u00a0<strong><em>is the Rule of 7<\/em><\/strong>. This means that when you have a problem, you should first turn to the person you think is best suited to help you.<\/p>\n<p>If she doesn't know, ask her to recommend someone to solve the blockage. If the second person doesn't know the answer to your problem either, ask for a recommendation. By doing this process 7 times, 90% of the time you will find a solution to the problem.<\/p>\n<p>This rule, in addition to helping you get out of the situation that is bothering you, is also useful to expand the range of people you know and thus, you will be able to grow and see that sometimes people can be helpful, not only on the role they have in the company, but also on another that can be seen until that moment as a hobby.\u00a0<strong><em>You'll often find that the person you're looking for is in a totally unexpected place.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So choose not to fight the battle with your worries alone, but make a good team with communication and the people around you.<\/p>\n<p>P.S. On the same\u00a0<em>Rule of 7<\/em>\u00a0which I also learned from\u00a0<strong>R\u0103zvan C\u0103z\u0103nescu<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/tbf.ro\/categorie\/fundamentul-zilei\">link to TBF<\/a>), I tested it in the recruitment training I told you about, just to show that managers can get at least one vendor referral on the spot (it was what they were looking for). Not everyone wanted to get on the phone then, on the spot. But those who did got what they were looking for: concrete recommendations, with names and phone numbers of people they either knew were looking for work or thought would be suitable.
