Take a break!
Stop what you're doing! Take a 15-minute break and set an alarm. I have a great exercise for you just in time for the end of the year which is getting closer and closer.
Give yourself 15 minutes to discover and analyse how you feel now. Then you will be able to understand and become aware of the areas in your life that need more attention.
You deserve to know this - you need to know this!
The wheel of life
The exercise is called "The Wheel of Life" and was developed by Paul J. Meyer. It brings clarity to every aspect of your life, helping you to evolve and recognize things you may be blocking, voluntarily or involuntarily. It looks exactly like a wheel divided into 10 sections. Each section represents a particular aspect of your life. Don't panic - the exercise consists of just 2 steps.
First, you have to read all the categories - obviously!
- Health
- Friends and family
- Your life partner
- Personal growth
- Fun and recreation
- Home environment
- Career
- Money
The next step is a little harder. You have to draw a line or colour each segment up to the current level of satisfaction. The centre of the wheel is 0 - not satisfied, and the edge of the wheel is 10 - extremely satisfied.
The final results will look a bit like a spider's web and will give you a general idea of your whole life in relation to the satisfaction of each aspect.
Ask questions
To gain more from this exercise you can ask yourself a few questions about each segment.
Or you can come to me, so we can find out together what's holding you back and what your strengths are, letting me ask the right questions. Whether you feel ready for a coaching session or not, I'm here to help!
Here are the questions:
- "Have you ever gotten higher than the satisfaction you scored?"
- "What was different when you were higher up?"
- "What actually happened when you were higher up?"
- "Have you ever gotten lower than the satisfaction you scored?"
- "What have you done to increase satisfaction?"
- "What did you learn from being lower in satisfaction?"
- "What level of satisfaction do you actually want to have?"
- "What actions can you take to start raising the standard?"
- "If you increased the level what would happen to indicate that you had reached the desired satisfaction?"
- "What would need to happen to increase your satisfaction level by next week?"
- "How could increasing satisfaction affect you?"
- "What can you do to overcome this obstacle - how can you prepare?"
