Is it time to change your career?

Career changes come upon us these days without us wanting them. Or some may have wished for them and then not taken the first step and made it real for them.

Thoughts like: I don't have time to change my job, but I'd like to. I can't afford to do what I want because I have to pay the bills.

Now we have too much time and money is a challenge for everyone.

But that's precisely the opportunity, the fact that everyone has financial challenges and time.

That's why I challenge you to use this period and do something concrete:

1. On any idea or one you've had for a long time and see how it still fits with the times. If it no longer fits, that's ok, accept it and take that step with another idea that fits the times. Break it into small, small pieces and see what is the smallest related step you can take. DO a pilot project with it. Make sure it doesn't cost you any money (or at least not a lot of money) or too much effort and time. The goal is to see if it's for you or not.

For example: talk to someone in the field you're interested in (even though everyone is struggling now, people are more willing to share), volunteer in the field you're targeting, take an online course, etc.

2. When you have finished the pilot project, analyse it, measure it.

  • Did it give you energy? Or did it drain you of energy?
  • Did you like it? What did you like best?
  • Were you good at what you had to do judging by the feedback? (yes, they should be asked).
  • Could you make a living doing this?

If you answered "Yes" to all the questions, it is worth continuing this activity.

But if you only answered yes to the last question, don't fall into the trap! You are and have already been in a context of earning money, but at the cost of your energy and perhaps your potential in this life!

3. If the answers were "yes" to all the questions, go ahead. MAKE a new pilot project! You'll also be able to check what works for you and what doesn't, especially this time!

Let me give you an example. A few years ago, I joined a European-funded project as a trainer. It was something we didn't have in my trainer portfolio and at one point I had even launched this intention into the universe.

And now the universe had sent me my way. I had the opportunity to get involved in the project either as a trainer or as the person who had to gather the target group. I chose to do what I loved, the work I knew I was good at (based on feedback) and the work that also made me money. But I was also able to see the other person's work up close - hours and hours online in promotion, hours and hours checking documents, missing addresses, misplaced dates etc, hours and hours on the phone to resolve these issues, all from behind a desk all day. That person was probably earning more on the project than I was as a trainer. But for me it was a clear lesson that I would never want to do something like that no matter how much money I made. That's what I meant.

So, now is the best time to get to work and test everything you can think of.

We are at the zero moment when nothing works and when everything will be possible at some point.
