How people see us and how we really feel

People are talking

"Olivia has no worries!" a neighbor told one of my family members.

They met in the neighborhood, probably coming or going to the store. And I'm sure you know people talk. Not because they want to hurt us, but because it's easier to talk on topics you know, like neighbors or people you know.

I realized that many people live under the impression that I don't worry, that I don't go through challenges. That my life is made up only of beautiful things, feelings or events. But this couldn't be more wrong.

This is an exterior view. This is how people see me from the outside. So naturally, I wondered which of the things I do generate this reaction?

Actions and feelings

The first thing that makes me look like a carefree person is that I don't ask for help often. Or at all. I have a close circle of friends and family who are there for me, so of course I'm not going to go asking everyone I know for help.

The truth is, I'm in trouble. I worry. For me, 2020 ended with the loss of someone very dear to me, with a funeral.

But when I meet people I smile and do it with all my heart. And it's not a mask - I feel like smiling, being cheerful and sociable. This is the result of years of training, years spent towards understanding and working with my feelings and actions. I react a certain way just because I feel that way and that requires daily training, daily coaching - from me, with me.

The role of coaching

A coach can help you too. He can teach you how to smile from the heart, no matter how you feel inside.

I'm not telling you to suppress your feelings. I'm telling you to embrace them, accept them and work with them daily.
