You probably also think that there are not so many differences between therapy and life coaching.
What if I told you that life coaching and therapy are different?
A life coach is hired by someone who wants to work on their own progress. Someone who wants to improve their life. A life coach is hired when people want to earn more money, when they want to have a more satisfying relationship, be better parents, have a better social life or a better career. And so on.
People who want to improve their lives are the ones who will benefit from the results of coaching sessions.
Coaching can help when people want to find the best and truest version of themselves.
On the other hand, therapy helps more to solve current problems.
A therapist is hired by someone who wants to treat, understand or heal some aspect of their past. Most people carry with them a great deal of trauma that has led to the creation of behavioural patterns of survival. A therapist will focus on the conflict or blockage that led to that trauma. Trauma from the past could be sabotaging the client's present and perhaps even their future.
How do you know when to choose a life coach or therapist?
Before choosing something that suits you, you should think it through. You don't have to make a choice just because you want to improve your life right now. Because if your choice is wrong it could cost you even more time lost towards improving your life or healing.
You should think about what you really want - healing or evolving.

You should think about whether you want to work with your past or your future. Your choice is entirely up to you, as both a therapist and a coach can help you, but in different ways.
